About Ed Wiles
Ed is a writer and director. He started his career by working in the camera and production departments on major TV and film projects, gaining valuable experience. Having always been interested in writing, he then studied for an MA in Screenwriting at the NFS. He found representation upon graduation and quickly gained several feature film commissions, including with the BFI.
With these early scripts failing to reach production, he chose to explore directing while working in other industries, especially the tech industry. His third short film, the award-winning romantic comedy, CITY LIGHTS, was supported by Film London and premiered at the LA Shorts Fest, before playing at other major festivals. The success of CITY LIGHTS led to continued work with Femi Oyeniran and his late business partner, Victor Adebodun. One of the projects they developed was grime mockumentary, DROPPERZ, commissioned by itv2, and starring BAFTA-winner Adam Deacon and BAFTA-noniminee Guz Khan.
While working on various TV and films scripts, Ed made his latest short, YOU EAT OTHER ANIMALS?. A sci-fi comedy starring Evanna Lynch (Harry Potter), the film was completed in October 2021. Although the above-mentioned projects were comic, and comedy is a genre that Ed feels comfortable in, he also works in other genres; and his ability to write drama has been recognised with a BAFTA Rocliffe showcase. His scripts - both comedy and drama - have placed in various international screenwriting competitions.
